Role The Glenurquhart & Strathglass Wind Energy Project is a windfarm developed as a locally-owned community project, with both the land-owners and the local community working together in partnership; the project developers are Corrimony Energy Ltd and Soirbheas Ltd. Orkney Sustainable Energy Ltd was contracted to complete the overall design and to complete the relevent environmental impact studies and the planning application. A visual impact assessment was completed, along with geological, noise and transportation surveys. The windfarm became operational in March 2013 and has been providing significant economic returns; the project was structured to provide an unusually high 20% community benefit.
